Malaya burst onto the live circuit in 2015 following the release of her critically acclaimed debut album, “Bourbon Street”, her powerful stage presence soon winning audiences at major venues and festivals everywhere, including the Great Rock & Blues Festival, Birmingham International and Colne.
Along the way, Malaya was nominated for awards in no less than four different categories by the British Blues Association, best female vocalist, best track, “Bitter Moon”, best album and best emerging artist, an unprecedented feat for an unknown.
2016 saw Malaya back in the studio recording a follow-up album along with some of the cream of British Blues musicians; Dudley Ross, guitar, (Kirk Fletcher, Lisa Mann), Paul Jobson, keys, (Blue Tones, Joss Stone), Stuart Uren, bass, (Stray, Blue Devils) & Andrew McGuiness, drums, (Temptations, Alexander 0’Neil).
The resultant album, “Heartsick” has received even higher praise than her debut album, with widespread national and international print and online media acclaim, regular radio play on Radio 2 and other UK based British blues broadcasters and on stations across the USA, Australia, Canada, Japan, South America and most of Europe.
Her reputation was further enhanced by being selected to take part in the UK Blues Challenge to find a worthy ambassador to represent Great Britain in the European Blues Challenge.
The band made their storming debut appearance at the club in 2015 and we were chosen by the band as their venue of choice to launch their eagerly awaited new CD “Heartsick”.
Malaya will be performing her newly released, double-track single that will be on sale on the night.
